I know a guy that lives in Sherman Heights and told me back in the 80’s and 90’s, the neighborhood was so bad that the residents there would speed down their own streets because the gang members would just start randomly shooting at cars everyday. So that was one way to stay alive. It was that bad. SouthEast SD/South SD has a well known history of gangs including National City and West Chula, but i didn’t realize certain areas in North County can be just as bad.
