Ultra Ps 230w Rc Blok Pitaniya
I think that It was designed more for pattern flying and aerobatics that the pattern planes do. They used 1.40 to 1.60 size glow engines in the planes.
The planes evolved from the earlier.60 size pattern planes that they call classic pattern today. Since it has a 80 inch wingspan it can qualify for the IMAA giant size sport plane class too. But way back in the day, the,60 pattern planes were all 120 mph rockets and they zipped around fast. The bigger pattern planes can still seem to fly fast though, but they are slower. Basically at a contest you do a series of maneuvers, loops, rolls, etc and you get judged and graded for it. Anyway they are nice planes. The planes fly with neutral handling.
When you do a turn for example and you give it some aileron, the plane stays in the turn and won't automatically come out of it. You have to give it some opposite aileron to straighten it back out. The rudder is full length to help hold knife edge maneuvers too. I flew one a long time ago and found it to be a pretty good plane. But it depends on your flying skills too.

I have some planes that I land pretty hot anyway, but I don't remember the Ultra Sport landing all that fast. But then I got used to it.
I used a MDS 1.48 engine in mine at the time. Here I am flying one of my sport pattern planes.
You can go to the end of the video to get a idea as to how fast they land. You actually fly them in for a landing. There may or may not be much of a flare on the landing per se. (10 min 7 sec). That plane brings back memories for me, good and not so good. Late in high school and a few years after I got my best friend into the hobby and we flew and built together.
We were always doing something with the hobby, or some other delinquent activities. Jason- purchased this kit along with a hot motor a Moki 1.8 got the retracts and all the goodies. I met my wife to be, moved away, and Jason and I drifted apart.
Got married, which halted the hobby for me. A year or so later I heard that Jason and his younger brother both were killed in a car accident. New car took a high speed corner too fast and both were ejected (no seat belts) a quarter mile from my folks house where I grew up. I couldn't bear going to the funeral. I drive past the site regularly now and sometimes I think a few years earlier and I could have been in that car.
Years have past, I have no idea what has become of that US 1000 kit. I used to be bothered by a few things like that. Every time I drive past where we played foot ball, I remember a guy that was killed in a car wreck shortly after he ran off with a girl I was starting into but not moving in fast enough and making the commitment. So she gave up and went off with him.
She was hot enough to drive any man crazy, so I guess he was all wound up from her and lost his better judgement. No fault of mine but I still have mixed thoughts about it. So a guy runs off with your girl, so hot your afraid of what it could turn into. He gets killed in a wreck. What would anyone think? The US 1000 since a discontinued kit, has to be either hand cut from plans or a bare wood kit from a laser cutter. The US 60 kit is still on sale at Tower.
I was looking for something to put a DLE 20 in. The US 60 looks like an inbetween for the 10cc and 15cc gassers. The 15cc looks to be, from brocures, so close in size and weight to a 20cc I would just get a 20cc. Unless the 15cc's have a compatible.60 glow mount.
Anyway, this US 1000 in the video looks good like this. I would like to make the fuselage the Navy grey color and the wings something close but visual.
The grey might be hard to see the orientation in. But it has a very cool military look. See why I like it? (3 min 6 sec). Have you seen the Great Planes Giant Sportster ARF? They're about this size, and use 30+cc engines (about 14-15lbs). One guy is flying one with a 55cc.
Big 'ol baby to fly, but nothing special - kind of like this plane. The older pattern and turnaround planes use a lot of momentum when flying aerobatics, for huge maneuvers.
Not many had/have the power to weight of a modern day acrobat. Long tail moments made the older designs really stable in flight (think dart). Set next to something newer (like an Sbach or Extra for instance), the longer tail moment will be pretty obvious. Though that fact might not seem important, many/most of today's tumbling maneuvers are flown much better due to the shorter tail moments. While the ability to preserve those huge maneuvers maintained. The Ultra Sport series are great aerobatic planes.
