Sonar 8 using external device MO6 I have Sonar 8 and is using the audio interface Muto 828 MkII using the keyboard Yamaha MO6. Please help me get the instructment from MO6 to replace those midi sound on any particular sonar track. I am trying to change the track instruction on a particular midi file instead of using the default TTS cakewalk patch will like to replace these sound such as drum or guitar with those found in my YAMAHA MO6. I don't know much about the setting and was sure if I set it properly. I tried and was not able to get these sound from my MO6 instruction to replace any given midi track within sonar. But after you import the instrument file, you'll have the convenience of easily setting up a MIDI track that's directed at the Yamaha. You can then select from a list of patch names that matches your Yamaha. But it's not as though you'll see a special graphical interface as you do for soft synths (like Dimension). If that's what you're after, you'll need to look for a third party program that can control your Yamaha. I use a program like that to control my Korg Triton.

Is this possible in this case? You can use the MO6 as a direct replacement for Dimension Pro or TTS-1 or any other software synthesizer. I often use software synthesizers temporarily while composing music, and later redirect the MIDI output to my MO8 and record its sounds to audio tracks. On the MIDI track, you should see '828mk2' listed in the dropdown list labeled 'O' (for Output). If you don't see this, then SONAR is unaware that your interface is a MIDI device. Go to Options -> MIDI Devices and make sure your interface is on the list and that it is enabled for both input and output.

If you've installed an instrument definition (.INS) file for the synthesizer, its banks should appear under the dropdown list in the MIDI track: General MIDI, Preset 1, Preset 2, etc. (If you're having trouble finding an INS file for the MO6, you can use one made for the Motif, which shares the same patch layout as the MOx).
